I am delighted to introduce a tiny part of the Textnet2 project! We are an international group of textile artists who have collaborated on a monthly basis while living apart and working alone. Many of us have never met each other in person. Juliette Eckel is the mastermind and leader of this group and has kelp us moving forward in spite of Covid cancellations.
I explain my work and introduce myself bel:
I’m wearing one of my wearable art dresses that has a bustle and neckline made from my grandmother’s unfinished Dresden Plate quilt pieces. My grandmother’s family came from Bremen, Germany. She was a prolific quilter.
I am so grateful to be a part of Textnet2! I live in California and met this wonderful group when they exhibited at EPM several years ago. They hoped to include an American in their international group of artists and I jumped at the opportunity.I am most known for creating wearable-art from damaged vintage patchwork that others might see as unsalvageable. I combine various vintage textiles to create dramatic clothing. I also make Assemblage, collage, and Art Quilts. The first two small quilts seen here will be part of the Textnet2 group exhibition which will be shown at the next European Patchwork Meeting in September 2021. I have included a photo of myself to introduce myself.
You can see more of my other work at www.Marty-o.com, MartyO_FiberArtist, and my FB Marty-O.
